In November, Dr. Antigone Argyriou represented Spine Medicine & Surgery of Long Island at the 2023 Conference of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R). From November 16-19th, this annual assembly brought physiatrists together for a diverse range of professional development.
As the pain management specialist at Spine Medicine & Surgery of Long Island, Dr. Argyriou attended both to learn and inform. She participated in an ultrasound course as well as shared a speech entitled, “Advocacy 101: Getting Involved at the Local, State, and National Levels of PM&R Physicians.”
Dr. Argyriou, along with Spine Medicine & Surgery of Long Island’s Dr. Courtney Toombs and the practice’s founding spine surgeon, Dr. Daniel Choi, go above and beyond with their patient-first approach, advocating for policies that help improve access and quality of patient care. The AAPM&R conference speech underscored this type of advocacy, one that helps protect patients and the medical profession.
